Tamara Wiper, owner of A Theory In Motion, works one-on-one with her clients as their Movement Therapist. Known for her well-trained eye and attention to detail, Tamara believes that since no two bodies are the same, programs must be customized to ensure that clients achieve maximum results. Through her instruction, which emphasizes body awareness and functional movement, clients learn a new found respect for their bodies while overcoming perceived limitations.
Tamara received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Ecology from U.C. Irvine, although it was her years of dance training and love of sports that led her to the fitness industry. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the Physical Mind Institute, and D.K. Body Balancing. She has also studied extensively with Rael Isacowitz of BASI and Madeline Black. Teaching movement since 1999, Tamara is most interested in the therapeutic and postural applications of the work and has experience working with conditions such as scoliosis, osteoporosis, Parkinson's Disease, pelvic floor dysfunction, joint instability, chronic pain, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and other pathologies of the spine. She has also earned a Pre/Post Natal Specialist Certification. Although her work is influenced by many disciplines, Tamara strives to remain faithful to the concepts originally taught by Joseph Pilates.
Tamara maintains that learning is crucial to being a quality instructor. She regularly attends continuing education courses and participates in her own personal exploration of Pilates through private sessions and mat work.
